Larceny in pick No. 189 lands the Vikings a C, Skattebo and all.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Vikings watched Cam Skattebo slide 75 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C.

They will need Howard to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 13
In pick No. 24 they get a downhill hitter at safety at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Demetrius Knight Jr. · LB · rank 61
Demetrius Knight Jr. in the 95th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.33 · Pick 97 · Will Howard · QB · rank 130
A big swing on Will Howard at Round 3, Pick 33, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.19 · Pick 120 · Hayden Conner · OG · rank 150
Hayden Conner at No. 120 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 114
Cam Skattebo at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.20 · Pick 195 · Seth McLaughlin · C · rank 211
They paid up for Seth McLaughlin at slot 195 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.30 · Pick 205 · Jaylin Smith · CB · rank 229
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jaylin Smith well ahead of where he belonged. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
