Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Brenden Rice, the No. 96 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 120. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Lovett pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Fair-plus on Terrion Arnold, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick No. 53 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Circle this one: Brenden Rice at Round 4, Pick 20 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They went early on Javion Cohen in the Round 5 slot, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Walter Rouse in the 161st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach on Fabien Lovett in the 167th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Luke McCaffrey in pick 171 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Joe Milton III in No. 210 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They read the board right and Jordan Magee was the payoff at pick No. 230. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
