It is the swing that defines the weekend: Benjamin Yurosek in the 232nd overall pick, a good 34 spots before the room expected him. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Fair-plus on Nate Wiggins, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in the 54th pick, with Jeremiah Trotter Jr. worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Brenden Rice in pick No. 116 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Khyree Jackson at pick 127 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had cheaper options than Cameron Ward at No. 160, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Burch in Round 6, Pick 14, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Miles Frazier in the 192nd overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Benjamin Yurosek this early at slot 232. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They reached a country mile for Frank Gore Jr. at pick 233, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
