The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Cam Skattebo, the No. 105 name on the board, sitting there at Round 6, Pick 36 like a gift left on the doorstep. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The Milroe reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Fair-plus on Abdul Carter, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jihaad Campbell in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Malaki Starks at the 68th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They talked themselves into Jalen Milroe at pick No. 73, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Omarion Hampton at No. 107 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jake Majors in the 144th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kobe Hudson at slot 182 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Cam Skattebo in pick 214 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Jeffrey Bassa at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
A safety of that caliber at slot 224 is the definition of value, full stop. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
