You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Texans did exactly that with Cooper Beebe in the 31st pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Landing Logan Jr. that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with running back the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st pick they get a blindside protector, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
A wild overpay on T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 2 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They did well to land Byron Murphy II in pick 49, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Javon Foster in pick No. 123, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Cedric Gray in the 127th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No drama and no debate, Cam Hart went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 34. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid up for Jaylen Wright at pick No. 146 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A quiet steal in Round 6, Pick 38: Kenny Logan Jr. for less than the market said. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Joshua Cephus in the 239th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
