They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
However the rest shakes out, King at that price is a win they earned. If Lovett pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In pick 28 they get an anchor for the offensive line at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Value with a capital V on Brenden Rice in the Round 4 slot, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Josh Newton at slot 129 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Trevor Keegan at the 157th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach on Fabien Lovett in Round 5, Pick 31; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Kalen King here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Jase McClellan in pick No. 230 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
JD Bertrand slipping to the 232nd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
