The Cade Stover pick is the one that will follow the Texans into the fall. They took him 43 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The Linton steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on T'Vondre Sweat at No. 27, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Keon Coleman at pick 33 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jared Verse is a better player than the 34th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Cooper Beebe at pick No. 53 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They went early on Braelon Allen in the 89th pick, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
