Houston Texans

The Texans got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C-.

Future D

The Texans lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The cost of the Sweat reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Hit on T'Vondre Sweat and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.19 · Pick 19 · T'Vondre Sweat · DL · rank 32
A conviction pick on T'Vondre Sweat at Round 1, Pick 19 that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R1.26 · Pick 26 · Emeka Egbuka · WR · rank 25
In pick No. 26 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R3.29 · Pick 92 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 93
Zak Zinter in the 92nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.17 · Pick 117 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 120
No drama and no debate, Junior Colson went about where he belonged in the 117th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Mohamed Kamara · DL-EDGE · rank 131
Mohamed Kamara at No. 126 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
