You could see the war room lean forward. Dylan Sampson at the 106th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They have staked the next five years on Cam Ward, which is the only story that really matters here. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

In pick 6 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Isaiah Bond at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in No. 68, with Dylan Fairchild worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jihaad Campbell in slot 76 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Somehow Dylan Sampson was still sitting there in pick 106, and they pounced on premier running back value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
