The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Ashton Jeanty, the No. 2 name on the board, in No. 160. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st overall pick they get a problem off the edge, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in pick 63, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Steal is underselling it; Tate Ratledge at the 95th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Walter Nolen at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a running back like Ashton Jeanty reach pick No. 160 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
T.J. Sanders in slot 164 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Harold Fannin Jr. in Round 5, Pick 29 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
