The Vikings spent real capital to be 145 picks early on Easton Dean, and the board is going to hold them to it. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Landing Ulofoshio that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
They will answer for taking cornerback early while interior defensive lineman went begging. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a downhill hitter at safety at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Kalen King at pick No. 42, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Michael Pratt in slot 108 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Johnny Dixon adds a cornerback and leaves interior defensive lineman untouched.
By-the-book stuff, Cedric Gray at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javion Cohen. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Sincere Haynesworth went about where he belonged in pick 151. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Austin Booker in pick No. 160, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Brennan Jackson at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A running back of that caliber at the 175th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Edefuan Ulofoshio in the 178th overall pick, plain and simple. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Isaiah Davis in slot 179 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Jha'Quan Jackson in Round 7, Pick 10, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at No. 243 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Easton Dean in No. 247 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A quiet steal in pick 250: Joshua Cephus for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
