When a board-topper like Cam Hart slides to slot 160, you do not overthink it, and the Vikings did not. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They will need Jennings to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a double-digit-sack hope. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Chop Robinson at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tykee Smith is a better player than No. 108 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy little value on Johnny Dixon in pick No. 130, a step better than break-even. A minor itch, scratched.
A slide stopped in pick 148, with James Williams worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cam Hart in the 160th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
The board had Sincere Haynesworth higher than Round 5, Pick 30, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Ethan Driskell at the 179th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value said wait; Donovan Jennings in pick 230 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
