The Raiders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Cam Skattebo, the No. 113 name on the board, in pick 216. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Reaching for Dart left real value on the table behind him. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Raiders indulged a want in Moore while a need in edge rusher, cornerback and other spots stayed open.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. A real need, handled.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Nick Emmanwori in pick No. 37, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jihaad Campbell at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor itch, scratched.
Jaxson Dart at the 73rd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, cornerback and other spots to take Malachi Moore, a safety that was not the priority.
Somehow Kaleb Johnson was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 5, and they pounced on premier running back value. It fills a real need, too.
Smael Mondon Jr. at the 179th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Miles Frazier at slot 212 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Cam Skattebo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Elijhah Badger well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
