Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jalen Milroe got past him. The Raiders do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 71. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
If Gadsden II pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 7 they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They robbed the room for Harold Perkins Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jalen Milroe in the 71st overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
J. Michael Sturdivant at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Aireontae Ersery in pick 135 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached into another round for Oronde Gadsden II, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
They took Colbie Young at par in No. 199, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
