Some picks age like wine; Payton Wilson at No. 53 will need to, sitting 23 spots clear of his grade.
The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots still on the board. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 27 they get a problem off the edge, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Payton Wilson at slot 53 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A curious use of the 88th pick. Interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; a DT-EDGE in Maason Smith did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Cam Hart at the 121st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A premium they did not need to pay, Shemar Turner a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui in Round 5, Pick 22 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nothing to complain about; Blake Watson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dorian Singer in the 242nd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
