The Vikings' one glaring miss is safety, a need they left exactly as they found it. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Landing Whittington that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. More want than need.
Chris Braswell in the 44th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They did well to land Braelon Allen in slot 112, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Donovan Jackson at the 127th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Mike Sainristil at Round 5, Pick 13 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
By-the-book stuff, Jaylan Ford at pick No. 162 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Joe Milton III at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Sincere Haynesworth in No. 179, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board had Jordan Whittington higher than pick 233, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
