The Raiders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Billy Bowman Jr., the No. 121 name on the board, in pick 182. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In the 21st pick they get a cornerstone up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Jaxson Dart in the 37th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
TreVeyon Henderson at No. 68 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Darien Porter at slot 73, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Will Howard. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Cam Skattebo in pick No. 144 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Billy Bowman Jr. was still sitting there in pick 182, and they pounced on premier safety value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They will replay Dont'e Thornton Jr. at slot 214 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Trevor Etienne in the 218th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
