Start where it matters. The Raiders took Bo Nix to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Every board in the league had Wilson lower, and that gap is the story.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Jordan Morgan at pick 44 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Patrick Paul. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A conviction pick on Trey Benson at Round 3, Pick 13 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid up for Khyree Jackson at No. 78 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach on Cole Bishop in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A real head-scratcher, Maason Smith in slot 90 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board had cheaper options than Braelon Allen at the 91st overall pick, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Caelen Carson in slot 98 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Johnny Wilson in pick 100 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
