The phones were a trap the Raiders kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Suamataia pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 8 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Keon Coleman at the 43rd overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Leonard Taylor III in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Kingsley Suamataia all the way to Round 3, Pick 11, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good price on Devontez Walker in the 108th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy little value on Cam Hart in No. 111, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had Khyree Jackson higher than slot 145, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nothing to complain about; Payton Wilson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
