The tape said wait; the Raiders did not. Jaxson Dart went at pick No. 68, a good 72 picks before the board was ready. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
Sampson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th overall pick they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tate Ratledge at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jaxson Dart at slot 68 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Jihaad Campbell in Round 3, Pick 9 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.
They barely believed it either: Dylan Sampson still on the board at No. 107. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
