Thirty-one other rooms let Savion Williams slide, and the Raiders were the ones holding the card at Round 5, Pick 5. Highway robbery. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a wrecking ball inside. A clean fit for the roster.
Nice patience on Nick Emmanwori, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 1. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Circle this one: Josh Simmons at No. 37 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and TreVeyon Henderson at the Round 3 slot is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had Jaxson Dart higher than the 68th overall pick, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
You do not let a wide receiver like Isaiah Bond reach the 73rd pick and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Quinshon Judkins at pick No. 107 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 144 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dont'e Thornton Jr.. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Ollie Gordon II here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
