The Raiders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 7 slot on Ro Torrence a full 59 spots early.
Tracy Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th overall pick they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
They liked T.J. Tampa enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 44. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Patrick Paul at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No drama and no debate, Javon Foster went about where he belonged in slot 128. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Trevor Keegan in the 143rd pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They jumped the gun on Beau Brade, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the 160th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Tyrice Knight at par in the 208th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Darius Muasau in No. 223 is fair value, right on his grade. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
They reached into another round for Ro Torrence, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Carson Steele. It fills a real need, too.
