The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Cam Ward, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Campbell. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They will need Turner to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
A tight end of that caliber at the 37th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking Kaleb Johnson in No. 68 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jihaad Campbell at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They reached into another round for Shemar Turner, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
