The one they had to fix is still broken. The Vikings left safety untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Sainristil falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a problem off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
J.J. McCarthy at No. 44 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Will Shipley at pick No. 112 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Max Melton in the Round 4 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Kamal Hadden in pick 149 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Mike Sainristil at the 162nd pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Javion Cohen at the 165th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Sanders. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick No. 233. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
