The search is over. The Vikings handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. No fireworks, but a solid B.
On value alone, Bethune makes the weekend a net positive. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. It is not that Abrams-Draine is a bad player; it is that the Vikings had louder needs to answer first.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get their quarterback of the future. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the 42nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Braelon Allen in No. 108 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
A surprising call. With wide receiver, tight end and other spots still to address, they spent the Round 4 slot on Kris Abrams-Draine, a cornerback they were not short of.
Nothing to complain about; Javion Cohen went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Darius Robinson in the 163rd pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Value with a capital V on Malik Mustapha in pick No. 164, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Zion Tupuola-Fetui in Round 6, Pick 4, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Tatum Bethune was still sitting there in the 230th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
