The search is over. The Vikings handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
On value alone, Lovett makes the weekend a net positive. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety. It is not that Abrams-Draine is a bad player; it is that the Vikings had louder needs to answer first.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the safety spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 11 they get their guy under center for the next decade. The biggest hole, addressed.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Tampa. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Somehow TreVeyon Henderson was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 8, and they pounced on premier running back value. A need, and now a little less of one.
A curious use of pick 128. Safety, tight end and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Kris Abrams-Draine did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylan Ford at the 148th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Keith Randolph Jr. at the 163rd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on LaDarius Henderson in pick No. 164; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid a round early for Jaylen Harrell in slot 179, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Dominic Lovett still on the board at slot 230. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
