Las Vegas Raiders

Stutsman should have been long gone. The Raiders pounced, and earned a B-.

The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Danny Stutsman, the No. 84 name on the board, sitting there at the 142nd overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Kiser has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.6 · Pick 6 · Mason Graham · DT · rank 6
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mason Graham. It fills a real need, too.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 21
They read the board right and Jalon Walker was the payoff at pick 37. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 15
Somehow Omarion Hampton was still sitting there in slot 68, and they pounced on premier running back value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 52
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tate Ratledge reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.5 · Pick 106 · Tez Johnson · WR · rank 97
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tez Johnson at the 106th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.5 · Pick 142 · Danny Stutsman · LB · rank 84
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Danny Stutsman in No. 142, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Jack Kiser · LB · rank 192
Jack Kiser at pick No. 178 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Trevor Etienne · RB · rank 204
The board had Trevor Etienne higher than Round 6, Pick 37, and the running back fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Jamon Dumas-Johnson · LB · rank 197
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at pick No. 216 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.6 · Pick 222 · Luke Lachey · TE · rank 185
Luke Lachey in pick 222 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
