The rest of the league will want that one back. Barrett Carter tumbling to the Eagles in pick No. 160 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 31 they get a two-high chess piece at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
They barely believed it either: T.J. Sanders still on the board at pick No. 63. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Demetrius Knight Jr. was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Dylan Sampson at the 128th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Taking Barrett Carter in pick 160 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They robbed the room for Jake Majors here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Joshua Gray at No. 166 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
