Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jaylen Reed got past him. The Raiders do not have to explain a thing at slot 218.
They are betting Webb proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get an anchor for the defensive front. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Jihaad Campbell in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They took Quinshon Judkins at par in pick No. 68, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cam Skattebo at Round 4, Pick 6. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Kyle McCord at the 144th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Value with a capital V on Quincy Riley in No. 182, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in slot 214, where Chimere Dike graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jaylen Reed at the 218th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They reached into another round for Clay Webb, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
