Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Vikings came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The Jordan pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 17 they get a lockdown presence outside. Need was not the driver here.
Nothing to complain about; Chop Robinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reach for T'Vondre Sweat in Round 2, Pick 16; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Christian Haynes at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good price on Dominick Puni in the 108th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Drake Nugent at No. 128 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dylan Laube at No. 148 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Moose Muhammad III slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 27 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Ty'Ron Hopper in the 164th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Justin Walley at pick No. 179. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Jawhar Jordan in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
