Minnesota Vikings

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Vikings and Jordan: B.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Vikings came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

The Jordan pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.17 · Pick 17 · Nate Wiggins · CB · rank 16
In pick 17 they get a lockdown presence outside. Need was not the driver here.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 37
Nothing to complain about; Chop Robinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · T'Vondre Sweat · DL · rank 57
A reach for T'Vondre Sweat in Round 2, Pick 16; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
R3.33 · Pick 96 · Christian Haynes · OG · rank 79
Christian Haynes at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 101
Good price on Dominick Puni in the 108th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.28 · Pick 128 · Drake Nugent · C · rank 133
Drake Nugent at No. 128 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Dylan Laube · RB · rank 144
Dylan Laube at No. 148 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.27 · Pick 163 · Moose Muhammad III · WR · rank 153
Moose Muhammad III slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 27 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.28 · Pick 164 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 171
Ty'Ron Hopper in the 164th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Justin Walley · CB · rank 170
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Justin Walley at pick No. 179. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Jawhar Jordan · RB · rank 202
Jawhar Jordan in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
