Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Cardinals never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Landing Newton that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Troy Fautanu at No. 27 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Chris Braswell in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zach Frazier. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Josh Newton in Round 3, Pick 7, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Braden Fiske at the 90th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
