The Raiders spent real capital to be 56 picks early on Spencer Rattler, and the board is going to hold them to it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
That Torrence pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Tyler Guyton in Round 1, Pick 32, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value said wait; Christian Haynes in the 44th pick says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Spencer Rattler in the 61st overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A big swing on Khyree Jackson at pick 77, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Fair-plus on Javon Baker, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wild overpay on Dylan Laube in pick No. 112, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kitan Oladapo in the 148th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
Steal is underselling it; Ro Torrence at slot 208 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Tyrice Knight at Round 7, Pick 3, and the board is aghast. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Garret Greenfield is a better player than No. 229 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
