Give the room credit for holding its nerve. Kingsley Suamataia came off the board 17 spots later than his grade, and the Cardinals were the ones waiting when he fell. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Joe Alt · OT · rank 3
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R1.26 · Pick 26 · Bralen Trice · DE-EDGE · rank 22
In pick No. 26 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Ladd McConkey · WR · rank 38
By-the-book stuff, Ladd McConkey at pick 35 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 50
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Patrick Paul in No. 66. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 54
Kingsley Suamataia slid further than he should have, and slot 71 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.26 · Pick 89 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 83
Good price on Mike Sainristil in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 94
They read the board right and Zak Zinter was the payoff at the 104th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 125
Tommy Eichenberg slipping to slot 133 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 136
They did well to land Malik Mustapha in pick No. 140, just ahead of his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Andrew Raym · C · rank 187
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Andrew Raym. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · BJ Mayes · CB · rank 221
BJ Mayes in the 225th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Taulia Tagovailoa · QB · rank 220
A clean, defensible pick in Round 7, Pick 7 with a little surplus value in Taulia Tagovailoa. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
