The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named edge rusher, a need the Eagles walked right past.
They are betting Barrett proves the room right and everyone else wrong. However the rest shakes out, Williams at that price is a win they earned.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 27 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
T.J. Tampa at pick 50 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid sticker price for Will Shipley in pick No. 97, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Mike Sainristil at the 131st pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
James Williams is a better player than Round 5, Pick 1 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Ben Sinnott in No. 156 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Michael Barrett well ahead of where he belonged. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Gabe Hall at No. 178 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Carson Steele in the 248th pick is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
