Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Jayden Higgins, the No. 77 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 159. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 30 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at a price that makes it sweeter.
Nick Emmanwori in pick No. 62 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Colston Loveland at pick 94 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Darrell Jackson Jr. in Round 4, Pick 31, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jayden Higgins at the 159th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Donovan Jackson at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Steal is underselling it; Oronde Gadsden II at No. 165 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
