Boards are made to be trusted, and the Eagles shredded theirs for Ricky Pearsall. He came off 23 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
The Moore value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at slot 45 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Ladd McConkey at the Round 2 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in No. 97, where Rod Moore graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Khyree Jackson at the 137th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ainias Smith. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Braden Fiske went about where he belonged in the 172nd pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Ricky Pearsall at No. 178 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Joshua Gray at pick 247 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
