The tape said wait; the Eagles did not. Jared Wiley went at the 160th overall pick, a good 40 picks before the board was ready.
Landing Eboigbe that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a true top target at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Payton Wilson in the 50th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
Kingsley Suamataia at slot 53 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Marshawn Kneeland in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Jared Wiley in No. 160 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cody Schrader slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 34 is lovely value for the running back. It fills a real need, too.
Jarrian Jones at pick No. 171 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Justin Eboigbe in the 178th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Fair-plus on M.J. Devonshire, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Michael Barrett still on the board at pick 240. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
