When a board-topper like Devontez Walker slides to pick No. 66, you do not overthink it, and the Cardinals did not.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 27th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
By-the-book stuff, Bralen Trice at the 35th pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Devontez Walker at pick 66 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Javon Bullard in slot 71 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
McKinnley Jackson at pick No. 90 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
