You could see the war room lean forward. Kyle McCord at the 182nd pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a featured back at fair value.
A straight-up fair deal on Jihaad Campbell at pick No. 37, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
By-the-book stuff, Jayden Higgins at the 68th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Andrew Mukuba in pick 107 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They barely believed it either: Kyle McCord still on the board at the Round 6 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Woody Marks was still sitting there in the 214th pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let a cornerback like Dorian Strong reach slot 218 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Theo Wease Jr. at No. 224 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
