The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
If Vidal pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Jayden Daniels in the 6th pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They jumped the gun on DJ James, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Blake Fisher at Round 4, Pick 12 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jalyx Hunt at No. 153 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Caedan Wallace in pick 208 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dominique Hampton in pick No. 223 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Kimani Vidal in slot 229 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
