Start where it matters. The Vikings took Bo Nix to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety. That James pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Hopper pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Bo Nix in the 29th overall pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Christian Haynes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kris Jenkins at pick No. 61 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking DJ James in No. 109 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Fabien Lovett at the 130th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Ty'Ron Hopper at the Round 5 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Anthony Gould in slot 166 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Javion Cohen at Round 6, Pick 4 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Rasheen Ali at No. 229 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
