The rest of the league had time to spare on DeMonte Capehart; the Raiders did not wait, grabbing him 37 spots ahead at the 238th overall pick.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. That Hart pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
In the end it comes back to Tyler Guyton, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Guyton at the Round 2 slot is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A conviction pick on Payton Wilson at slot 61 that the board grades a round light. A minor itch, scratched.
They did well to land Johnny Wilson in pick No. 82, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Spencer Rattler at par in the 92nd pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Beau Brade at No. 112 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They let Cam Hart come to them and pounced at pick 150. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 173 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
AJ Barner in No. 190 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Mark Perry at pick 234 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
A wild overpay on DeMonte Capehart in Round 7, Pick 18, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
