Somewhere a general manager is explaining how BJ Mayes got past him. The Eagles do not have to explain a thing at the 182nd overall pick. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.26 · Pick 26 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 13
In pick 26 they get an island corner, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.13 · Pick 45 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 51
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick No. 45 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.1 · Pick 65 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 58
Brian Thomas Jr. at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 104
They took Zak Zinter at par in the 97th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.1 · Pick 101 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 85
Nice patience on Blake Corum, who had no business lasting to slot 101. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Jaheim Bell · TE · rank 142
Jaheim Bell at the 137th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.21 · Pick 157 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 149
A tidy bit of business in No. 157, where Christian Jones graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 146
Mike Sainristil at Round 5, Pick 36 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Moose Muhammad III · WR · rank 176
Moose Muhammad III in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.7 · Pick 182 · BJ Mayes · CB · rank 153
BJ Mayes in Round 6, Pick 7 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.27 · Pick 247 · Evan Williams · S · rank 220
Evan Williams in No. 247 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
