The Eagles did not so much draft Kendall Milton as overpay for him, 40 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid up for Roman Wilson at slot 35 when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Cedric Gray. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Value said wait; Mason McCormick in the 120th pick says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kendall Milton in Round 5, Pick 25, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Fair-plus on Marist Liufau, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Jordan Magee in pick 210 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
