The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
However the rest shakes out, Flournoy at that price is a win they earned. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 5 they get the arm they will build around. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Braelon Allen at par in pick 108, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
McKinnley Jackson at slot 129 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good price on Kitan Oladapo in Round 5, Pick 21, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Trey Knox at the 230th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Ryan Flournoy at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
