You build a draft on nights like this. Dillon Gabriel had no business being available in the 182nd overall pick, and the Raiders did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Dart reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jaxson Dart well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board had TreVeyon Henderson higher than the 68th overall pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Xavier Watts at slot 76 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Taking Donovan Jackson in pick No. 107 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They let Emery Jones Jr. come to them and pounced at the 144th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a quarterback like Dillon Gabriel reach pick 182 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
RJ Harvey in Round 6, Pick 12 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They robbed the room for Cobee Bryant here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 218 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Circle this one: Upton Stout at slot 224 is a fall that decides a draft. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
