Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Cardinals came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Penei Sewell pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
The Beebe reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th pick they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In pick No. 30 they get a disruptor off the edge, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kalen King. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They liked Cooper Beebe enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 66. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Johnny Wilson at par in the 71st overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Michael Hall Jr. at No. 90 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
