Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals bet the future on Daniels. The board says D-.

The Cardinals bet big and early on Michael Barrett, 47 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Alexander at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.3 · Pick 3 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 8
Jayden Daniels in the Round 1 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R1.10 · Pick 10 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 12
In slot 10 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R1.17 · Pick 17 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 23
In the 17th pick they get a blindside protector at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 55
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cooper Beebe in No. 35, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Kalen King · CB · rank 48
Kalen King in pick 42 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 74
No drama and no debate, Sedrick Van Pran went about where he belonged in pick No. 67. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 70
Blake Corum at the 73rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.17 · Pick 81 · Nazir Stackhouse · DL · rank 94
They paid a round early for Nazir Stackhouse in slot 81, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Rod Moore · S · rank 81
Rod Moore at Round 4, Pick 3 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 130
A reasonable price with a little left over, Smael Mondon Jr. in the Round 4 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 187
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Michael Barrett. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.29 · Pick 165 · LaDarius Henderson · OT · rank 174
LaDarius Henderson at No. 165 is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.23 · Pick 198 · Zy Alexander · CB · rank 163
They robbed the room for Zy Alexander here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R7.4 · Pick 224 · Isaiah Williams · WR · rank 217
A tidy little value on Isaiah Williams in the 224th pick, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Ben Bywater · LB · rank 253
A big swing on Ben Bywater at No. 227, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
