Whoever sat across the table from the Cardinals should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Taylor III pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In pick 27 they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Troy Fautanu at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Ruke Orhorhoro at the 66th pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Johnny Wilson at No. 71 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Christian Mahogany in slot 90. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Leonard Taylor III at Round 4, Pick 4, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
James Williams at pick No. 133 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
