Arizona Cardinals

A masterclass at the trade table lands the Cardinals a A-.

Whoever sat across the table from the Cardinals should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

Chambers has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That Lovett pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

The kind of weekend a front office frames and hangs on the wall.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · JC Latham · OT · rank 18
In pick No. 11 they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
R1.26 · Pick 26 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 21
In pick 26 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 37
Chop Robinson at the 35th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 58
A quiet steal in slot 66: Kingsley Suamataia for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Byron Murphy II · DL · rank 71
No edge and no loss on Byron Murphy II in Round 3, Pick 7; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.26 · Pick 89 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 91
Sedrick Van Pran in No. 89 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 105
By-the-book stuff, Braelon Allen at the 104th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 120
The board had Khyree Jackson higher than the Round 4 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 150
A reach on Jaylan Ford in the 140th pick; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 219
Steele Chambers at Round 6, Pick 13 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 247
Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick 225 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Dominic Lovett · WR · rank 205
Dominic Lovett at slot 227 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
